Rich’s travel bike

Rich’s travel bike

To compliment his mountain bike, Rich asked me to create him a road bike for traveling with, incorporating the FRC (Folding Road Concept) system. A bike with a single chainring is slightly easier to pack, so we did mullet gearing using SRAM AXS road shifters to activate a mountain rear derailleur. The wide range cassette is from Garbaruk, being a better match than a SRAM cassette here as Rich wanted to use existing wheels with a Shimano freehub.

The brakes are EE by Cane Creek, which offer lots of clearance, so 30mm tires can be fitted. In the limited edition silver finish, they match nicely with the EE titanium crank and the Ritchey classic series of components.

The frame features an aero-shaped downtube, ovalised toptube and then the folding rear triangle (loosening the BB and dropout pivots allows the rear triangle to fold flat under the mainframe).

Vibrant paint is by Colorworks, and the weight as shown is 16.2lbs.
