Patrick’s gravel bike

Patrick’s gravel bike

Patrick asked me to build him a gravel bike, with a 1x drivetrain and clearance for 45mm tires. The frame features an oversize, bi-ovalised downtube from Columbus to keep this size frame stiff. This matches to the oversize headtube and a custom ovalised toptube.

A Cane Creek headset matches to an Allied carbon fork. Patrick decided to use mechanical disc brakes in the form of Paul Klampers, with the rest of the groupset being SRAM Red AXS XPLR. As many bolts as possible were swapped out for gold anodised titanium for an accent color.

The wheels feature the silent-coasting Onyx hubs with Enve 3.4AR rims. The paint is by Colorworks.

The bike is superb. Initially I would go back and forth between it and the Crux to really compare them. Despite their similar geometry, the difference in comfort between the two was mind-blowing. The ability of the English frame to soak up small bumps to the rear tire is phenomenal.

Hands down, the most enjoyable bike to ride I have ever owned.

I can’t thank you enough. The bike brings me great joy.

  1. Hi. Nice bike. What is the handlebar?

    • Hi Wyatt, the bar on this bike is an FSA K-Wing AGX carbon, in a 46cm.
      thanks, Rob.
