Elion’s V3

Elion’s V3

Elion asked me to build him an old-school/new-school road frame. Old school because of rim brakes, tubulars, frame pump. New school with a carbon seatmast, oversize headtube, wireless shifting. And an unusual request for flat dropouts, rather than the socket type I tend to use. Straight chainstays, straight seatstays. Round downtube. Classic lines with a modern accent.

A 3T Funda fork lines up nicely to the oversize headtube, joined with an Inset Chris King headset. Which is topped by a custom stem, with everything beautifully painted by Colorworks.

  1. Wow – that’s wonderful.

I’d be eternally grateful if you could tell me what colour that is. RAL number, perhaps? My touring bike was refurbished by the late lamented Witcomb Cycles in Deptford, UK, well over a decade ago – they called the colour Witcomb 1957 lilac, a reference to a time when their frames were used in the Tour de France.

    • Hello – Elion asked us to match the color of the lid of a can of Vittoria mastik tubular glue. My painter used a Porsche purple (POR M4A) with a little white added to make it match. Sorry I can’t give you any more than that!

      • Many thanks. Now I know what to do should I ever need a respray!
