27 August 2011

This weekend is the Eugene Celebration stage race – my home event (two of the stages start right outside my front door!) which I have won the last three years. It feels like more pressure every year to defend! Last night was the prologue, a 3 mile uphill time trial. I have not been beaten on this hill in five years, and hoped to continue that theme. My time was 10:30 – a little behind my 10:16 course record of last year, but I felt I did a pretty good ride. Had to wait until this morning for the results to be posted, and it was enough! MTB pro Carl Decker was 7 seconds behind me, Oregon RR champ Scott Gray 14 seconds down and Oregon hillclimb champ David Sheppard 24 seconds back in fourth. The field is small with only 26 riders, but I’ll be calling on my team to try and keep these guys under control in the road race today…. more news later….

In other news, the C4 skewers have arrived – titanium rods, aluminium and carbon levers, 44g – picture up on the hubs page.

And Chris’s triathlon frame is coming along nicely :-
