Almost another year done – which means that English Cycles is about to complete it’s fifth year of business! I’ve been keeping busy in the shop over the holidays – I delivered one frame to paint today, with another almost complete. Which is good as I want to get the decks clear to focus on a somewhat complicated project: Gates asked if I would be interested in doing a build featuring their belt drive, Bosch’s new Gen 2 integrated electric assist and a Nuvinci hub. This was actually perfect timing as I had been thinking about an e-cargo-bike for Misha and I to use for quite a while. The design is mostly done, and I have started some of the fabrication – next up is creating an interface for the BB/motor unit to attach to the frame, and a way to jig it for putting the frame together. I’ll post some pictures of that next week, in the meantime here are some shots of the frame I finished today, plus the EC christmas tree :-
