Scott’s bike is coming along nicely – the fabrication is now all complete, just final finishing work to do and on to paint! Because the Great Divide route has long stretches of gravel and paved road, Scott wanted an aerobar setup – more for comfort than aerodynamics, so positioned quite close and high. To accommodate this I machined a custom mount for the stem/steerer that attaches the elbow pads, and also short extension pieces that clamp onto the loop of the Jones H-bar – this gives the required position whilst leaving the cockpit more open and potentially room in the middle of the bar for mounting a bag or mapcase.
Alongside the additional mainframe brazeons for a frame bag, Scott requested a custom front rack to hold a lightly loaded drybag above the front wheel. This attaches with an integrated ‘bottom cap’ for the aheadset, and a 5mm boss on the fork crown.
