Yesterday was the Oregon Team Time Trial championship. Although English Cycles race team has doubled in size this year to two riders, that isn’t enough for a team, so Lee and I paired up with Ryan and Colby from the Hagens Berman team. We all met up at the race, but then Ryan discovered that the seat collar on his TT bike had snapped, and being an aero shaped one it wasn’t something we could borrow from anywhere. His father was sent off on a mission to get a spare one, but would he get back before the start? At the line the minutes ticked down and no show, so we set off to race as a three man team (apparently he arrived just two minutes too late….). It was windy and the course was pretty technical with corners, but we got in a good rhythm to push through the headwind section. And then it was fun time with the tailwind – I had us at 40mph at one point! Our average ended up at 29.8mph on my computer, and we were able to take the win by a minute. Cheers to Lee and Colby for the great ride, and commiserations to  Ryan – hopefully we can get this team together again for another event.

  1. Nice work Rob. I saw those Hagens-Bermans lads at Mary’s Peak (both of them crushing the hill climb record)… impressive team.

  2. Why no MKII? Was the course too hilly for the single ring?

  3. Was wondering the same… Looking forward to some action shots and road reports on that new TT beauty.

    • I’ve raced the new bike once so far. I have some fine tuning to do, which I haven’t had time to work on yet; hoping to get it going for races next month.
      Cheers,
      Rob.
