Will’s all-road bike

Will’s all-road bike

This build had an unexpected connection – it turned out that Will and I attended the same school, just a couple of years apart. So he was very familiar with the shop where I built my first bike 30 years ago, and the teachers that helped me. As a nod to this, when Svelte Cycleworks helped Will with the paint design, the school crest was incorporated into the layout.

Will needed a custom bike to achieve his riding position, and was looking for a durable build with clearance for larger tires and fenders to suit the UK roads and weather. We settled on the geometry, and choose stainless steel for the tubing. An Enve fork up front gave the required clearance and fender mounts. Will requested the new Shimano Ultegra 12spd groupset, and Chris King parts for the bearings – we ended up using their new carbon-rimmed wheelset too, in the latest limited edition color of ‘midnight’.

Svelte’s paint design was expertly applied by Colorworks, and the final bike came in right at 20lbs.
