Serge’s gravel bike

Serge asked for a gravel bike with big tire clearance (up to 50mm), mechanical shifting and braking, plus a dropper post. Oh, and keeping the weight as low as possible!

The US-made Allied carbon fork fits the desired tire, plus is very light. Then it is paired to a custom headset and narrow headtube which helps keep the frame weight down too.

At the back we have a bit of future proofing with a UDH dropout, and bosses for a direct mount 160mm flat mount brake caliper. There is internal routing for the 1x mechanical shifting, the dropper post and the rear brake cable (with the option to also accommodate a hydraulic hose if needed later).

The drivetrain consists of a Garbaruk crankset and cassette, with an Ingrid derailleur shifting a SRAM chain. The left hand Campagnolo brifter was modified in order to operate the Fox dropper post. Growtac brakes provide the stopping via Hope rotors, attached to Carbon-ti hubs.

Paint – including the suspension stem from Cane Creek – is by Colorworks, and the final weight came in at 19.0lbs.
