Sean’s travel bike
Sean is an Oscar winning film maker who’s work takes him all over the world. He wanted a lightweight road bike that he could take with him. He is also involved with the charity Cycle It Away, and in association with that he also needed the bike to be able to handle light touring on dirt roads in Africa.
The frame starts with the English FRC (folding road concept) system, which allows the rear triangle to fold flat underneath the frame for fitting into an airline checkable case. An oversize headtube has room for an Enve carbon cyclocross disc fork, with similar large clearances in the rear – the bike has 23C road tires now, but can handle larger ‘cross tires for the dirt roads. Rack mounts are included for load carrying.
Finishing kit is almost a full SRAM Force group, with Avid BB7 SL brakes and Enve bar, stem and seatpost. The wheels feature the new Chris King R45disc hubs laced to custom painted NoTubes Alpha 340 rims.
The full custom paint in the Cycle It Away colors is by Eric at Colorworks.
