Scott’s stainless road frame

Scott’s stainless road frame

Scott asked me to build him a road bike that would offer good tire clearance and have the ability to fit fenders. We opted to design around a fork from No.6 (the carbon component branch of No.22 bicycles), which fit this criteria. The frame is full stainless steel, almost entirely using US-made tubing from KVA. There is a T47 BB shell to allow for internal routing of the rear brake hose and Di2 cables. The chainstays have some custom shaping to maximise tire clearance whilst still allowing room for a road double crankset.

For long rides, there are three bottle mounts and bosses on the toptube for a feedbag.

A custom stem was built to match, then we got to the fun part – paint! Scott wanted to do an homage to Douglas Adams’ ‘Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy’. I came up with the basic layout, Scott provided the quotes, and then it was over to the team at Colorworks for the fantastic execution; the photos don’t quite do the sparkly space effect justice!
