Rich’s road bike

Rich’s road bike

Rich asked me to build him a light, fast road bike that would climb great. With his position set, I could design geometry to give the required handling characteristics, and then choose the tubing to offer the right level of stiffness to give good ride feel. Whilst 30mm tires are fitted, there is clearance for up to a 35mm.

The carbon headtube insert saves a few grams and gives a nice aesthetic accent. Fully internal hose routing is via the Enve In-Route system, with their bar/stem, fork and a Chris King Aeroset headset. King hubs are laced to Enve 4.5 rims for a good balance of aero efficiency and low weight.

For the crank we have a 5Dev hollow titanium model fitted with a SRAM power meter and Praxis chainrings, running in a Chris King bottom bracket. Shimano Dura-ace completes the build.

The paint is by Colorworks, and the bike weighs in at 17.6lbs.
