Preston’s stainless V3 road bike
Preston and I went back and forth about the possible directions for this project, before settling on building a lightweight frame for his Campagnolo Super Record groupset. The frame is the V3 design, with integrated carbon seatmast and carbon headtube insert. A NOS Enve 1.0 road fork has a similar carbon weave for a visual match.
The tubing is mostly from Reynolds, with custom 316 stainless for the seatstays. The fully polished finish adds many steps to the process, but gives a wonderful unpainted final result.
The build kit is completed with a lightweight bar and stem from Darimo, an Extralite headset, Cane Creek EE brakes and a Bjorn saddle.
Final weight as shown is 14.8lbs.
