Matthew’s V3 stainless gravel

Matthew’s V3 stainless gravel

Matthew asked me to build him a gravel bike that could double as a rain bike. So the frameset will clear 38mm tires in gravel mode, or fits 30mm tires with fenders. For corrosion resistance the entire frame is built from stainless steel (a mixture of Reynolds 953, Columbus XCR, KVA and custom formed 316). The stainless tubing is shown off with the stays being left bare with a brushed finish, as is the seatmast cap and the downtube logo.

The headtube and seatmast are custom wound carbon tubes from Enve. Columbus supplied the fork, which has the required tire clearance and discrete fender mounts.

SRAM Red AXS eTap provides a wide gear range and the clean lines of wireless shifting.

Matthew asked for a paint theme based on the colors of the Barcelona football club, along with their crest on the toptube (amazingly fully reproduced with paint by Colorworks). The final weight came in at 16.2lbs (+ 1lb for the fenders).

  1. Great bike! I like the versatility. Not sure about the colors but I’m also not Barcelona supporter 🙂

  2. Gorgeous job as always Rob, Form and Function. May I ask, what brand are the fenders? They are so discrete…

    • Thanks George! Fenders are by Portland Design Works.
      Cheers,
      Rob.
