Jai’s FGC (Folding Gravel Concept)

Jai’s FGC (Folding Gravel Concept)

Jai was able to come by the shop for a fitting, to get him seated comfortably for some overseas adventures with his travel bike. With some occasional knee pain mentioned we went to shorter cranks and made sure there was plenty of (low) gear range.

The bike is built to clear 700Cx40 tires, with the Ritchey fork in front providing similar clearance, along with triple mounts for extra bottles or luggage if needed. Both frame and fork have mounts for fenders too.

The frame has my folding system, where the rear triangle can fold flat under the mainframe, allowing the whole assembly to fit into an airline checkable travel case.

For the parts, we have a full complement of Chris King parts – hubs, BB and headset, in their midnight color, with the hubs laced to Hed rims. SRAM Rival provides the wireless electronic shifting, with a Rotor carbon crankset.

Brian at Kaibab Customs produced the special framebag which is bolted to hidden internally brazed bosses on the frame.

Colorworks did a great job with matching the Chris King anodising, with a contrasting gold for the logos. The final weight as shown with the bag is 19.7lbs.
