Dennis’ FRC

Dennis’ FRC

Dennis asked me to build him a travel bike – we went back on forth on various options and wheel sizes, before settling on using the 650C size, with the intention to give very similar feel and performance to a 700C bike, but providing for easier packing in a checkable case.

This is the bike for which I modified the rear brake to have a quick release cable.

The frame features internal cable routing for gears and rear brake, additional bottle bosses under the aero downtube, bento box bosses on the toptube, and rear rack mounts. Plus of course the folding system that allows the frame to fold up for travel.

Enve supply the 650C aero rims, built onto DT hubs, with 28mm tires. The groupset is Shimano Ultegra 6800.

Complete weight as shown is 17lbs.

  1. Why is there a second pinch bolt for the seatstays at the seattube junction?

    • That is for the folding frame system – the seatstay wishbone is secured in the socket there and pulls out when the frame is folded. I’ll add some folding/packing photos when the travel case arrives for this bike.
      thanks, Rob.

      • I see, the second bolt is actually a rear rack mount, correct?
