Colby’s FRC travel bike

Colby asked me to build him a road bike to travel with, which is what the Folding Road Concept is for! Rim brakes make packing for travel easy – the rear cable can be disconnected, and there are no rotors to worry about getting dinged in transit. Using the excellent EE brakes allows for at least a 30mm tire to fit. Wireless shifting with SRAM eTap means no additional cables to deal with, and makes it especially simple to remove the rear derailleur during packing.

It was nice to find a good home for the limited edition colorway of the EE brakes that I had in stock – and I was able to match this with a blue Cane Creek headset and Tune seat collar. The frame features an aero downtube and ovalised toptube, paired to an Enve fork up front. Hed wheels have an excellent braking surface and a wide channel for a better tire profile.

The frame can be folded up, and with a small amount of disassembly, the whole bike fits into an airline legal travel case. Clean and simple paint, nicely match to the anodised parts, is by Colorworks, and the bike weighs in at 17lbs.
