Brigham’s gravel bike
Brigham asked me to build him a gravel bike to be capable on varied terrain. The Enve gravel fork has clearance for a 50mm tire, so that was matched for the back. This involved carefully shaping the chainstays to clear the chainring on the SRAM XPLR crank whilst maximising room for the tire.
Instead of my usual wishbone style, conventional s-bend seatstays were requested, which made the build a little more challenging as falling outside of my regular process. Nice to do different things though!
Tubing diameters and butt profiles were selected to provide the strength and ride quality required, with custom ovalising of the toptube.
The paint design incorporates several family ties, including the tartan pattern on the fork – all of which was stunningly executed by Colorworks.
The weight comes in at 19.4lbs as shown.
A solid 2,000ks in…honestly the best riding bike I’ve owned. The perfect blend of on road agility and off road comfort. Having owned many road race bikes I continue to be amazed at how this bike wants to ‘get up and go’ when out of the saddle.
