Brick’s FGC Tourer

Brick’s daughter will soon be embarking on a very long bicycle ride – from Alaska to the bottom of South America. He intends to join her for a few weeks along the way, so needed a robust travel bike with luggage carrying ability. What we came up with is a Folding Gravel Concept with an additional integrated folding rear rack. The rack mounts at the seatstay pivots and the seatclamp, which means that if it is removed there is no additional hardware left on the frame.
The Niner front fork can mount extra bottle cages or a front low-rider rack, so there is plenty of carrying capacity. To keep things simple, the bike has a SRAM Force 1x group, with a wide range 10-42 cassette. Ritchey components complete the build – their Zeta wheelset is great for travel as the cassette/axle can be quickly and easily removed without tools, making packing the bike simpler.
External cable runs are easy to maintain and help with lots of cable slack when packing the handlebars. There is an extra cable stop on the headtube in case a front derailleur needs to be added at a later date.
A tough powdercoat finish in ‘English’ blue, with painted logos under clear (by Custom Powderworks) completes the build. Final weight complete as shown (with fenders) is 23lbs.
Super cool!
