Augusto’s gravel bike
Augusto asked me to build him a gravel capable machine, and after discussing various options we ended up with a bike similar to my pink bike.
The headtube is a custom tapered unit to accept external Chris King headset cups for the 1-1/4″ tapered Enve Gravel fork. There is an integrated seatmast, which is custom externally butted to save weight, and has a slight bend to increase tire clearance whilst maintaining short chainstays. The seatmast also has additional bottle cage bosses on the rear. To hold the saddle and allow for fine tuning the height, there is a custom machined seatmast cap. The other mainframe tubes also received some custom shaping – the downtube is ovalised where it meets the BB shell, and the toptube is taper ovalised.
A T47 BB shell allow for running the rear hydraulic hose internally through the downtube and chainstay, to the flat mount caliper.
Enve M50 rims are laced to Carbon-Ti straight pull hubs for a lightweight wheelset, and the SRAM eTap HRD group is complemented by an FSA K-Force crank.
The paint is by Colorworks, and the final weight is 17.0lbs.
