Andrew & Lauren’s road frames

Back in 2013, Andrew and Lauren came to stay at Velo, to discuss having a pair of custom frames built. And not just for any reason, but to celebrate their upcoming wedding in 2014. During the conversation, it turned out that Andrew was also looking for a team to race for, so I was happy to have him join the English Cycles team. They chose to have their frames painted in team blue, with the date of their wedding added on the toptubes.
Andrew went for a round integrated seatmast, which I custom butted, then modified a Thomson seatpost to have an internal wedge for a very clean, adjustable saddle attachment. He wanted a steel fork to match, so with this being a race bike, I made one with full aero tubing for the blades, and the bike also has an aero downtube and internal cable routing. To complete the assembly we have a lightweight custom stem, with the angle matched to the toptube.
Lauren may race her bike, but it is more for general riding. So her fork has tapered blades for a little more comfort, a conventional seatpost and round downtube.
The finish is powdercoat, with painted logos under a clear powder topcoat, all applied by Custom Powderworks. Photographs by Tina Buescher.
The additional milestone for me is that Lauren’s frame is English number 100!
